plans to go, but you never know..

We nearing the end of wonderful Azalea's contract, and readying to beat feet (take wing?) back to L.A. for the winter. Mother Goose, baby goslings, and me, the pigeon. Sagey especially is looking forward to CA, she knows where Disneyland and Camp Snoopy are, and will likely correct our directions on the way. In all, it will be a busy four months, and at the same time a break from the self imposed sameness of here.
We've an apartment in Sherman Oaks, so literally back to familiar haunts and hunts, and a thankfully a much more pedestrian friendly locale.

Eighteen days away, Los Angeles, so be ready. And be sure...

a new url for apat: www.apat.us. the link to apat.typepad.com is still active and will be. i made myself a promise that i would purchase a domain when i was writing regularly, but the deal on the new URL was too good to pass up. perhaps the writing will boost now of it's own accord. if you need domain registration or hosting www.godaddy.com makes it easy and affordable!

our fall directions point west, back to CA for the end of the year. another autumn without a discernable season change, but much closer to loved ones. we hope to be on our way (via air) in mid september.
we will be able to put aside some extra money to bring out the goods from LA, and restart our rainy day fund.

in the interim, busy meeting neighbors and making friends. lots to do at the house, too. i would like to place a project list here in the near future, and put this to some organizational use. I will start updating my linkblog, www.apat.us/sisew, and will try to talk
hulamum into writing more too. she is very good at it, and i'd like to read her more.

minimal life with child(ren)

we are moved into plum house, sans stuff, which is still in LA. i rather like the peaceable rooms, light walls and warm yellow orange floors, unencumbered by belongings, and still belonging to us. i walk it's length in the mornings with a little song in my step, and trip over nothing.

what pains me is that Sagey knows better than anyone that her "stuff" isn't here, and has taken to reminding me by listing items, "Dad, my Barbie car, bicycle, my dolls; why are they in storage?"
explaining is futile, i try to assure her, "soon, honey". she has plans: "when our stuff gets here, will you make my room beauuuti-ful?". "sure, honey".

soon the house may be full of our stuff, and we'll all be excited to riffle through shared memory. and there will be a spot in me that misses the simplicity of an uncluttered floor.

STIKFITE

we are moved into the brand new house, and 3 days of rain has brought me back to online gaming, albeit a kinder gentler version. of rock paper scissors.

The Road Home

IMG_0620

We closed on the house 5/12 and made a beeline through Austin traffic to Kyle. The mile drive in off the highway is this striking green, with fields of tall grasses and these weeping trees lining the roads, threatening to cross at any moment, life unrestrained. Sage chimes in around this point "I love this jungle, daddy". I love this jungle, as well. May the only jungle we face be as pretty a picture as trees through the windshield.
